Holy Child Jesus Parish will host its next evening of reflection on Thursday December 7, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. The topic is “The Bible and Catholic Tradition on Love, Sex, and Marriage.” Our presenter is Dr. Melanie Barrett, Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Moral Theology at the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. Dr. Barrett holds a Ph.D. in Religious Ethics from the University of Chicago Divinity School, and an S.T.D. (Sacred Theology Doctorate) from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. She is the author of many articles and one book (on the theologian Hans Urs von Balthasar), and currently is completing a second book (on suffering and the moral life in the theology of St. Thomas Aquinas). She teaches graduate-level courses on philosophical ethics; Catholic virtue theory; the ethics of sex, marriage, and family; Catholic social doctrine; and key figures in medieval and Reformation-era theology.
Please join us as we seek to deepen our understanding of life in Christ to make our Advent experience more meaningful.
