Speakers: Sr. Mary Grace Gregorio, OP and Sr. Domiciana Tenerio, OP The Dominican Sisters of St. Joseph was founded on October 15, 1959, in Paco, Manila, by Rev. Fr. Pablo Fernandez, OP, and Mo. Mercedes Llanderal, OP. From the Archdiocese of Manila, the secular institute (now Dominican Sisters of St. Joseph) was invited to the Diocese of Malolos to administer a parochial school, teach catechism/religion in public and parochial schools, and build and administer orphanages for the care of orphaned, abandoned, and differently abled children. The Sisters follow the ideals of their Patron, St. Joseph, and their Father, St. Dominic in caring for God's people through life-giving ministries of preaching, teaching, caring for children, and responding to the emerging needs of the local church. In 2023, the Congregation envisioned a mission school in a remote and mountainous area of a faraway parish in the Diocese of Malolos. This is the only Catholic elementary school in the area. Started in the same year, 2023, the mission school serves pre-elementary and elementary students, with thirty-five and sixty-four students enrolled in 2023 and 2024, respectively. The students are using the sisters' meeting room and living room as temporary classrooms. Serving the children is indeed costly, but providing Catholic education to them is a gain for the community and society, especially as these children are poor and needy. They will be the next catechists, teachers, missionaries, and the future family men and women of our time. The Congregation of the Dominican Sisters would like to support these children, but with limited resources on hand, other generous hands are needed to realize this dream for our poor children. We are in mission appeal for them. With the dangers of excessive materialism that permeate our societies today, we need to keep our young people focused on the Gospel and guide them with the light of faith. Thank you for your generosity!

The rectory office will be closed on Wednesday, June 19th in honor of the Juneteenth holiday. Juneteenth is an annual observance on June 19 commemorating the day in 1865 when Union soldiers enforced the Emancipation Proclamation and freed all remaining enslaved people in Texas. This is a day for us to celebrate freedom and equal rights in the United States.
We will be taking up a second collection for the Archdiocesan Priest and Retirement Fund on June 8 and 9. Priests’ Health and Retirement supports our hundreds of active and retired diocesan priests. We provide all of the healthcare needs of our active priests and the medical and housing needs of our retired priests. Funds received by Priests' Health and Retirement only support priests of the Archdiocese of Chicago. They are separate and distinct from other efforts to support retired religious order priests, sisters, and brothers. Thank you for your generosity!
